About the artist

Works by the late Erica Hoyt are in public and private collections across the U.S. and abroad, including offices of the White House, the Korean Embassy, the S.C. State House, and the S.C. State Museum's permanent collection.

Mrs. Hoyt painted the countryside from Nova Scotia to Florida. She had a great interest in the old, the weathered, the historic and scenic. These elements give the paintings a nostalgic feeling from an artist whose works reflect warm imagination and accuracy.

She graduated from Washington Irving Art School in New York City, attended Pratt Institute in New York and the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and studied with some of America's most outstanding watercolorists. She taught art for 19 years and was a professional watercolor artist for most of her life.
